Rules
Crossword rules for two players
Crossword for Two is a small daily crossword with two pens. You both work the same grid from your own phones, and every letter either of you types shows up on the other's phone too.
Setup
- A 7×7 grid. Every answer is at least three letters long, and the clues are listed across and down, the way they're printed under any crossword.
- A new grid every day. You and your partner always get the same one, and you go through the whole set before any grid comes round again.
- Today's grid is free for everyone. Twine+ opens the archive of past days. Nobody gets tomorrow's grid early.
How a round works
- Tap a square and type. Your letters show in your colour and your partner's in theirs, on both phones.
- Play side by side or hours apart. Letters travel between your phones, and a phone that was away catches up with everything the other one filled in.
- If you both change the same square, the later letter stays.
- Stuck? Check a word to see which of its letters are wrong. Empty squares aren't marked wrong, just not done yet.
- The grid is solved when every white square holds the right letter.
Scoring and winning
- There's no winner: you solve it together.
- Twine times the solve from the first letter in to the one that finishes the grid. A grid left overnight across time zones is a long solve, and that's fine.
- Solve it on days in a row for a streak. The streak counts up to yesterday as well as today, so it doesn't read zero all morning before today's grid is done.
